Located in the heart of the Var department north west of Saint-Tropez, our vineyards are located in the Plaine des Maures National Park, which covers over 13,000 hectares (32,000 acres) of protected land. A stay at the estate, in an authentic Provençal Bastide with its own private swimming pool, is a wonderful way to discover this National Nature Preserve, in all its pristine splendor. Remarkable in terms of flora and fauna, the area is also home to the emblematic Hermann's Tortoise (the only French tortoise), and provides superb options for hiking, horseback riding and cycling.
A few kilometers from Château des Bertrands, Lac des Escarcets lake is home to a striking landscape, quite unique in France, consisting of pink sandstone slabs pitted with umbrella pines and cork oaks, giving it an exotic air of African savannah.
Nestled in the heart of the Plaine des Maures nature preserve, the lake is covered by the Conservatoire du Littoral coastal protection agency. With its particularly diverse flora & fauna, this is an excellent location for fishing (pike, perch, roach and carp), hiking and exploring nature.
